Hotel Dusk / Little King's Story developers declare bankruptcy

It is a sad day today for the gaming world. News received from Data Max (translated by NeoGAF) indicates that the Japanese developer Cing, most known for Little King’s Story & Hotel Dusk, has filed for bankruptcy with liabilities in the region of 256 million yen.

The sequel to Hotel Dusk, ironically named Last Window, is currently being localised for release in the west. Here’s hoping that it will still see release, despite Cing’s current unfortunate circumstances.

If you’re an avid gamer, buy Hotel Dusk and Little King’s Story. Right now. They are both awesome games.

You should also buy Another Code: Two Memories (Trace Memory in the US). It’s a bit short, but it’s a damned fine game.

In before some columnist blames piracy.

@Joe Pomerening, It probably didn’t help, but at the end of the day it probably just has to do with lack of sales.

@Michael O’Connor, Agreed. I don’t think there was a lot of demand on the piracy scene for any of Cing’s rather under-the-radar titles. I think it was the fact that the games they made typically low-key and didn’t get the popularity they deserved. They made some excellent games, but I rarely had anybody mention them in conversation, other than “That DS game with the loli on the cover”.

256 million yen? Isn’t that like $10? I could bail them out.

Grats Kyle beat me to it :)
