Movie Gallery has filed for bankruptcy for their second time. February 1st of this year marked the company giving notice to over 800 stores that they would be shutting down. On February 3rd, Movie Gallery filed for Chapter 1 bankruptcy after pulling out of a previous bankruptcy from 2007 just eight months prior.
The company will be shutting down Movie Gallery stores, Hollywood Video stores and Game Crazy stores all across the United States.
Bad news for movie buffs and gamers alike, I think, because it’s one less location to rent and purchase movies and games that offers face-to-face contact with an actual person, but rental locations have been losing quite a lot of ground due to online rental services like Netflix and conveniently placed rental kiosks RedBox.

Hollywood Videos? That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. They moved out of this country nearly a decade ago… I wasn’t even aware they were still going.
Are there any Hollywood Video locations left in Utah County? Red Box selection is awful!
