I used to spend hours playing adventure games on my ZX Spectrum. The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and Heroes of Kahn were among my favourites.

I still occasionally download a few from the interactive fiction archive. :-)

@Nickey, and it’s also awesome, so check out the DS or Wii version. The Wii version’s got voice acting, but other than that, the versions aren’t very different

Long live adventure games, though down with the remakes, frankly. Tales of Monkey Island do NOT compare to the original couple.

I’m glad to know that I was around for a large part of the rise of this genre (wow, that suddenly makes me feel old), and proudly supported it through it’s early and colourful history.

The years after would be a depressing view, but I think the genre has really made a comeback in the last few years. Heck, Telltale Games make their entire living off this genre.

Long live adventure games!
