Left 4 Dead 2 has officially been refused classification in Australia, according to the Australian Classification Board.
Why? Here’s apparently why.
“The game contains realistic, frenetic and unrelenting violence which is inflicted upon “the Infected” who are living humans infected with a rabies-like virus that causes them to act violently” The ruling goes on to say that “However, it is the use of the “melee” weapons such as the crowbar, axe, chainsaw and Samurai sword which inflict the most damage. These close in attacks cause copious amounts of blood spray and splatter, decapitations and limb dismemberment as well as locational damage where contact is made to the enemy which may reveal skeletal bits and gore.”
Ah, Australia, you never fail to entertain us.
Left 4 Dead 2 will see release on the Xbox 360, in more civilised parts of the world, before the end of the year

blame our f*cking government. pissed off.
That description should be on the back of the box. If that doesn’t sell more copies of the game, I don’t know what will.
Hahahahaha!
So killing zombies who are trying to bite your nipples off in a fictitious environment is wrong? That’s the first time anyone’s ever told me. This is stupid.
@Jens Erik Vaaler,
It’s Australia.
I love how democratic it is that 6 out of 7 attorney generals in australia have voted for the inclusion of R ratings for video games, yet it was overturned because it wasnt unanimous.
Michael Atkinson honestly believes that stopping the addition of an R rating is keeping violent games out of our children’s hands. WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?
Vote with your feet, South Australians of Croydon. The next state election is in 2010.
