Talking to CNBC recently, Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot said that he believes big action games will continue to be played on traditional controllers. Why? Because gamers don’t like to move around, basically.
“The current pad for gamers is giving them a lot,” he said regarding whether or not games like Assassin’s Creed or Splinter Cell could possibly ever use motion sensing technology.
“They play for hours, so they don’t want to get up and down. They don’t want to be tired after five minutes. These games are about reactivity.”
You might as well have just said we were all fat and lazy, Guillemot. Though that honestly wouldn’t be far from the truth anyway…

I wouldn’t agree that all gamers are fat and lazy, but I do agree that motion controls aren’t for all games. Can you imagine playing Halo 3 or Gears of War 2 with Project Natal? What about trying to play Unchartered: Drakes Fortune with the PS3 Wands? For certain types of games you need an analogue stick, if not two.
