The repeatedly rumoured arrival of Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360 has been thrust back into the spotlight once again, as a Konami representative admits the company is “looking into” it.

Earlier in the year, Konami denied that they were even considering it and definitively said back in January: “For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game.”

But answering to yet more questions of the possibility of a platform shift, Konami PR man Yoshitaka Arai told Japanese site Morningstar today: “The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to.”

Make of that what you will.

I have no problem with this…

Who would of thought a year ago i could have Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy XIII and (potentially) Metal Gear Solid 4 on a cheaper console thats not the PS3…

    Some miracle…

    *laughs Konami*

Now don’t tell me they’re not in it for the money, considering how quickly they changed their mind when possible profit came into their field of vision.

Of course, in their shoes, I’d do exactly the same, so who am I to judge?

@Dawn, This is the one game I was convinced *wouldn’t* cross over to the 360. It’s like… seeing Final Fantasy on a Nintendo console.

    Oh wait…

The precedent is already there anyway:

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance debuted on the original Xbox.

@Shad, The difference there was that the original Xbox was a vastly more powerful machine than the PS2.

The 360 and the PS3 are about comparable, though Blu-rays have the obvious advantage of extra storage space, which is a big issues for MGS4.
