We're just big men with big feellings...

Screenwriter Chris Morgan has recently discussed the Gears of War movie with the press, and has indicated that he want the film to be a “gritty” and “real” representation of the games, but that “fun lines” will keep things light throughout.

“I can’t write a joke to save my life, but I can, at the right moment, tap into the human thing that comes in when you’re in a foxhole and things are raining down,” said Morgan.

“I think you will definitely have those fun moments, those fun lines and moments between the two. But by and large, I think it will be gritty and real.

Morgan also added that he “want to write and play it as though it happened today. Look outside at your city and imagine that the locust started rising – that’s how I want it to feel.”

The film will be mostly live action, but with computer effects for “the big stuff”, and certain Locust scenes.

  1. Trying to justify the obnoxious machismo of the Gears of War franchise is like trying to make logic out of the Mario universe.

And we all remember how that movie turned out…

@Michael O’Connor, there’s only one way to do a Gears of War movie: with lots of guts, gore, guns and gigantic muscles.
